A fully funded film and television training programme with academies in Nairobi, Lagos and Lusaka is now accepting applications for its 2026 intake, with a deadline of February 27th.
The MultiChoice Talent Factory, founded by MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, trains aspiring directors, producers, scriptwriters, and filmmakers across Africa. The programme is structured around practical, hands-on learning and is designed to feed graduates directly into professional production environments.
Since its founding, MTF has placed graduates into commissioned productions broadcast across the continent, including shows such as The Deadbeat and Immersive Alarm, as well as film projects including the West African fantasy drama Grown, Southern Africa’s The 11th Commandment, and East Africa’s Frida.
Up to 60 graduates enter the creative economy each year through the programme, creating what MultiChoice describes as a reinforcing cycle of skills development, employment, and content production. The proximity of the academy to MultiChoice’s wider content ecosystem means graduates move quickly from training into industry roles.
The initiative sits within a broader argument that Africa’s growing appetite for locally produced content, stories rooted in real languages, communities and experiences, requires a pipeline of professionally trained storytellers to meet it. Productions emerging from that pipeline have done more than entertain; shows like Big Brother Naija and The Real Housewives of Nairobi have driven sustained social media engagement and launched personalities into regional prominence.
Prospective students can apply at multichoicetalentfactory.com. Applications close February 27th, 2026.
