Maisha Magic Plus premiered its latest original drama series Qutu bringing viewers a story about buried secrets, family ties and the search for truth.

The series follows Daniel Ziwanda, played by Yusuf Ali of Utandu fame, a young man from a rural village who leaves behind his pregnant girlfriend Frida to chase a brighter future in the city. After struggling to find his footing, Daniel’s life takes an unexpected turn when a wealthy woman helps elevate him into a respected businessman known as Colonel Ziwanda.

Years later, Frida’s declining health and her son Ray’s discovery of old love letters expose long buried secrets. Determined to uncover the truth, Ray, played by Nelson Mandela from Sultana, embarks on a journey to find the father he never knew. His reunion with Colonel Ziwanda shakes the foundations of the life Daniel has built, sparking suspicion, jealousy and turmoil, especially when Sauda uncovers the truth about his past.

The cast includes Mercy Kidiwa and Missy Ally from Tehanani, John Mbura from Mkasi, newcomer Mixollis Kobogenza and renowned TikToker Aisha Mohammed.

Produced by Mwanamisi Ally and John Mbura, the creative force behind Tehanani, Qutu is a collaboration between Rambu Media and Atiza Productions. Lawrence Lector directs the series while Fakii Kasoloi handles the writing.

“Qutu is a story about love, sacrifice and the fight for truth in the face of judgment,” said producer Mwanamisi Ally. “It is a mirror of the society we live in, where secrets and stigma can destroy lives, but also where redemption is possible.”

Director Lector added, “We wanted to create a world that feels real and emotionally raw, where every character carries a truth they are afraid to face. I am incredibly proud of the cast and crew for bringing this vision to life.”

The drama airs every Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on Maisha Magic Plus, available on DStv Channel 163 and GOtv Channel 3. New episodes continue throughout December, giving viewers a compelling storyline to follow through the festive season.
